1. Develop a working model of strategic planning
2. Develop competency in workshop processes which will enable business to be undertaken in a culturally appropriate manner
3. Pass on skills and knowledge to younger community members under the guidance of their elders.
This plan expresses the community's future vision, goals and strategies to be implemented into the new millenium.
Vision
1. Provide opportunities for community members to manage their lives and enhance social, cultural and economic well-being;
2. To promote an awareness of Aboriginal Culture and th share such experiences with the wider community;
3. To focus on the development of programs and activities which are culturally appropriate and promote education and training opportunities for its members and their families;
4. Develop and economic base through the development of enterprises and economic initiatives that enable the community to work towards self-sufficiency;
5. To maintain accountability through a governing committee that is representative of its membership;
6. Provide training programs which are culturally appropriate and provide community members with further skills development leading to employment opportunities;
7. Promote women and youth development by providing support and access to resources;
8. Link with other Aboriginal organisations, and people locally, regionally and nationally to further promote the Aboriginal cause.
Mission
Jarlmadangah Burru Aboriginal Corporation strives to enhance the social, cultural and economic well-being of its community members and their immediate families.
Values
1. The community respects the contributions and knowledge of community elders in providing leadership.
2. The community values promoting, keeping and renewing traditional culture. It recognises the significance of land in the maintenance of traditional culture.
3. The recognition of prior ownership of land by indigenous people and a clear commitment to the rights of indigenous people to negotiate and participate fully in land issues.
4. Individual community members and their families are in the best position to determine their own needs. Therefore the community is committed in promoting self-support and self-sufficiency of members in meeting their stated goals.
5. Maintain accountability through a governing committee that is representative of its membership and to aim for openness in respect of its decision making principles.
6. The communtiy is committed to the process of reconciliation. Promoting a united community that has a respect for land and provides justice and equity for all.
